David Attenborough – Wonderful World – BBC – Frozen Planet was my absolute favorite TV program of 2011, breathtaking, heartbreaking, brutal and adorable in equal measure. The last episode of the series was broadcast at the end of last year and to commemorate what is widely thought to be David Attenborough’s last major appearance on the BBC, the ad agency RKCR/ Y&R produced this awesome video, currently number three in the Brand Chart. (If you’re suffering from a bit of the January blah’s this is the perfect perfect pick me up guaranteed to make you smile!)

P.S. For any Bristol based Attenborough fans who haven’t heard, he’s coming to St George’s to talk about the Frozen Planet series next month, tickets available on line here, (very excited!)

Girl With A Funny Talent – Shockingly this video has managed to clock up over 20 million views and over 200,000 shares in less than two weeks, shooting right to the top of UGC Chart. You might be wondering what amazing talent this girl must posses to attract so much attention? Well, the answer is the ability to move her eyebrows in time with some music. There’s not really much more I can say to that, don’t you just love YouTube!

Smart Thief Caught On Cam - At number seven in the UGC this week is this smart little video of a thief puling off an ingenious scam to trick the CCTV cameras and steal what is claimed to be the worlds slimmest TV screen. The clip is allegedly ‘user generated content’, although in actual fact it is clearly just a nice little viral promotion by LG, and with over a million views in the first week it’s not doing too badly.

Who’s Your Favourite? - Time for some baby action with this super cute clip. Daddy interrogates daughter to determine who is her favourite parent.

Finally, finishing the UGC round up with a couple of Cat videos, (I never get bored of these)… Mean bully kitty pushes fluffy friend down stairs and a brave iPad owner allows his cat to get its claws on one expensive cat toy.

A quick round up from last week’s NMA chart…

My Tram Experience: This rather shocking video of a woman having a bit of a crazy racist rant on a crowded public train has already been viewed over 11 million times and shot straight to the top of the UGC last week.

Secretly filmed on a mobile phone, it caused quite a storm across the social media world, with the resulting backlash on Twitter leading to her being detained by the police for her own protection! The video itself is quite an uncomfortable watch but it makes an interesting little case study on the way a story can be picked up by the media and become a meme in its own right.

Bizzle gets some Dunkers: You’re probably familiar with Charlie Schmidt’s Keyboard Cat by now, and with over 20 million views, its own Facebook and Twitter feed and a whole host of mash up videos and fans online, it’s clear that dressing up your pet like a human is a quick way to push it into the viral limelight. So, meet Bizzle – Half dog, half man as he guzzles down some cheesy treats in this hilarious little clip.

Black Friday Shopping Prank: I think this might possibly be my favorite video from the chart last week. Two grown men convincing shop assistants to help them locate an insane list of made up items including an eye removal kit, hair-dye for new borns and pre made toast. If you like this one you might enjoy the follow up video, Xmas shopping Prank #2!

Nando’s Last Dictator Standing: Using some of the worlds most controversial political dictators to advertise a chicken restaurant chain seems like a bizarre decision for a company to make right? Well, that is exactly what Nando’s South Africa did with their risky new ad poking fun at the worlds political rulers.

Featuring a Mugabe look-a-like in a water pistol fight with Col Gaddafi, playing in the sand with Saddam Hussein and singing Karaoke with Mao Tse-Tung, the video (which reportedly cost about £236,000 to produce), has now been pulled due to the massive public backlash directed against the campaign. Epic marketing fail? Well, with just shy of a million views and nearly 40,000 shares already it’s still not doing too badly!
