This week’s NMA Viral Charts are dominated by New Year videos in both Brand and UGC. At the top of the NMA Viral Brand Chart is the BBC’s coverage of London’s New Year celebrations.

At number 3 is the beautiful infographic video from National Geographic. The video is a promotion of their new 7 part series on the worldwide population being set to exceed 7 billion this year.

Finally, Channel 4 have 4 entries this week with the stylish promo for the new series of Skins being the highest at no. 4.

Over on the NMA Viral UGC Chart, no. 1 is DJ Earworm’s 2010 pop mashup of the top 25 hits according to Billboard.

The rest of the chart is dominated by our favourite vloggers and their New Year videos. I particularly like Mystery Guitar Man’s interactive collage.

Finally, my personal favourite on the UGC Chart this week are the 2010 viral superstars as performed by Mt Vernon Elementary.

This week’s festive NMA Viral Charts are sprinkled with christmas viral joy. Sitting at the top of the NMA Viral Brand Chart is the superb Social Media Nativity video from ExcentricPT, a web 2.0 spin on the birth of Jesus with the whole cast – including donkey.

Number 2 is the not so festive but still geek-cool virtual translation app from Quest Visual.

My personal favourite this week is No. 7, the teaser trailer for the annual BBC Top Gear Christmas Special. Having watched it, I immediately shared it with my Dad, a trend which I’m sure has pushed it into this week’s NMA Viral Brand Chart.

Over on the NMA Viral UGC Chart, the lead single from The Lonely Island‘s second album takes the No. 1 spot with “I Just Had Sex” featuring Akon.

2 parodies take chart positions 2 and 3, the first a GTA spin on Mario Bros and the latter an alternative ending to the new Yogi bear movie.

Sadly this week there are no animals doing festive things……however, there is a return of Charlie is so cool like, and he’s got a couple of surprises – a better camcorder and, wait for it……a new haircut!
