#KittenCamp x 3!
March 7th, 2011 by Melanie PeckThey say good things come in threes and this month #KittenCamp delivered a trio of awesome kitten themed evenings in London, Birmingham and Bristol.
Kicking of at Barrio Central in Soho with a round up of this months viral highlights – for the full low down on the show reel check out the Rubber Republic Blog.
Featuring a guest slot from John from Syzygy, who teamed up with artist/director McBess to produce an exclusive artwork print illustrating 20 things that ‘happened’ on the Internet in 2010 – from industry events and memes to great web projects, can you spot what these ‘things’ might be?
Next Jon Burkheart from Urgent Genius took campers on a behind the scenes tour of the Urgent Genius Weekender, a 48 hour challenge to create a meme-tastic viral mash up, with a sneak preview of the final film that will be screened at South by Southwest Interactive in March.
And finally Dan from Hello You Creatives talked us through his 5 top tips on how to make an awesome meme.
Next stop on the tour was the Victoria Pub for our first Birmingham #KittenCamp – where (after a slightly slow start due to a few technical hiccups with the internet) we had a fun evening with the excellent David Edmundson-Bird chatting about the 10 year history of British memes followed by Myles McLeod with some wonderful animated treats from the Brothers McLeod studios.
Finally we headed back down to Bristol for champagne and kittens at Goldbrick House. This time featuring an awesome guest slot by James Ainsworth from Alterian with a whistle-stop tour of weird and wonderful things from the world of social media monitoring.
