Edit your video directly with YouTube
September 22nd, 2011 by Melanie PeckLast week YouTube launched the new Video Editor function that allows users to edit footage directly within their account.
This isn’t a package that serious video editors are going to be interested in and the options are fairly simple but the great thing about it is that it allows users to make basic changes to their video without removing it. This means that the view count, comments and all existing links to the video will continue to work and no reloading is necessary.
The function allows users to trim clips, add sound and combine and edit multiple videos to create one track. It also gives the option to correct colour and contrast, stabilise hand-held footage and add a series of effects to videos.
Whilst it’s a bit limited in terms of options, it’s super simple, easy to use. You’re not going to be able to do anything fancy but it’s definitely handy for quick fix video solutions.
Check out this video for a quick rundown on the new features.
